Data and metering
What does SLP – standard load profile mean?
A standard load profile is a typical consumption pattern over time. It is used to allocate energy volumes over time in the energy market where no corresponding individually measured load curve is used.
The data basis, contract scope and distinction from related terms are essential for applying this to a portfolio. RLM is not a procurement model, and SLP is not a fixed-price tariff. Do not confuse measured values with an annual volume mathematically distributed across time intervals.
AT A GLANCE
- ModelUse a typical profile
- VolumeAssign the forecast
- LimitDo not assume an actual measured profile
PROPERTY PRACTICE
What does this mean for your portfolio?
For small supply points, record the assigned profile and underlying consumption forecast. A stairwell meter and a commercial business need not use the same profile. Review data and allocation when use changes. An annual volume distributed mathematically is not a measurement of actual daily consumption.
An example.
Our own example: a small communal electricity meter has an annual bill. A standard profile distributes the forecast volume across periods. It does not reveal when the lighting was actually on during a particular Monday.
Simplified example to explain the term. Actual metering data, the supply concept and agreed terms are decisive.
WHAT MATTERS
Three questions for your portfolio.
Is the consumption forecast still appropriate?
Has the use changed?
Make the distinction clear
Distinction from RLM – interval demand metering: RLM is not a procurement model, and SLP is not a fixed-price tariff. Do not confuse measured values with an annual volume mathematically distributed across time intervals.
